PLAYER TALENT SCOUT: EDUARDO CAMAVINGA

Eduardo Camavinga is the youngest regular starter in the top five European Leagues, and at just 16 years old he already appears comfortable playing in midfield for Rennes in Ligue 1.

The Angolan born left footed central or defensive midfielder made his debut in April this year and ended last season with 4 starts and 3 substitute appearances. This season Camavinga has cemented his place in the Rennes starting eleven and his performances have earned interest from the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

He really burst onto the scene with an outstanding man of the match display against champions Paris Saint Germain in August, when the youngster inspired his side to victory with an all action display against the likes of Marco Verratti, Marquinhos and Julian Draxler, including a delightful floated ball for Romain Del Castillo to score the winning goal.

This match in particular highlighted Camavinga’s skills with his ability to drive with the ball from deep particularly impressive. He was named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for August 2019, and is widely regarded as the best Ligue 1 prospect since superstar Kylian Mbappe.

If he continues his current trajectory then it won’t be long before he makes a move to a bigger European club, but he would best served to stay with Rennes and continue gaining invaluable first team experience in Brittany for the immediate future.
