Player Talent Scout: Mohammed Salisu

Posted on 10th June 2020

With La liga making it’s long awaited return tomorrow night, one of the most talked about young players in the league is Real Valladolid central defender Mohammed Salisu.

Salisu joined Valladolid in 2017, and after spending two seasons for the B team, he was promoted to the senior side this season following the departure of Fernando Calero to Espanyol.

The 6 foot 3 Ghanaian has enjoyed a fantastic season for the club and been a major part of a solid defence that has the best defensive record in the bottom half of the table.

The left-footed centre half has been linked with a whole host of clubs including Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid and with a reported release clause of just €12m, he represents great value in what will be a strange market for many clubs.

The club most strongly linked with Salisu is Rennes, who have qualified for next season’s Champions League, and a move to the Bretons may be the best next step in Salisu’s career, allowing him to continue his development as a first choice.
