Is there a limit on how many players you can have in a team???????

In game worlds i am in or have been in some managers seem to have enough players to make 2/3 teams including subs whilst i struggle to get a decent team. I was wondering if there is a maximum number of players you can have or can we just buy as many players as we want?

The unofficial limit is 256 players (although this is only because of the pixels limit that the site can manage for one team).
