Work In Progress: Job Offers

June 3rd, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)

Sometimes it is nice to be rewarded as a manager of a club in the lower divisions, and one such reward which is being worked on is ‘Job Offers’.

I will keep this post short as it is self-explanatory, and it does not require an in-depth article. However, the idea behind it is when a club which is competing in a higher division than you are currently participating in becomes unmanaged the clubs chairman could approach you with an offer to become their new manager. The unmanaged club in question would then become frozen in relation to the transfer market, and also in relation to other managers applying to take control whilst the job offer is being considered.

That is pretty much the idea in a nutshell without going into to much detail, and this new feature should be in place within the next few weeks.

good idea. But what might come in the way would be that all the stats & accomplishments of a manager gets lost if he moves to a bigger club. SM might be thinking of a manager history page. But as a manager I’d prefer a club history page that shows my name with the rest of the greats who managed the club, rather than show off in my own profile. A lot of effort goes into each club and most managers feel attached to the club. Though an offer to manage a bigger club might be tempting, I’d stick to my current club because SM doesn’t yet provide a good way to record history. It is something SM should consider. Eventually a manager’s job at a place is done & has to leave. So even if some of the older setups lack manager-club history, that’s something SM can still start .

i would love this feature as i want to see how the other chairmans rate me as a manager. i think my brother, who is less experienced on SM, would get better offers btw.

true a history page of the manager would help.

I like this, rewards good managers and means the good managers get the good teams, would also go a long way to stop cheating.

one of the best ideas yet, prevents people from getting lucky and stumbling on a good team in golds. i feel a key feature that go alongside this should be the sacking of managers who do not succeed

Just pointing out that if this was to be implemented, you’d have to put a full stop to Club Swapping or add a swap feature.

Because when a manager quits for another manager to take over, if the vacancy isn’t there and it doesn’t appear on the new clubs page, people will lose out on swap even more than they are now.

I agree with the idea. It would be an original improvement.

Ben, the club swap is made in minutes, the Job Offer would be made one or two days after the manager left.

Yes its good idea and sm should bring better history records like lance said. Lets say u hav had 3 clubs in the setup total Pld 65 W 30 D 15 L 20 and then separate to also see each clubs history

Another thing that could possibly done is applying for a club. So if a job comes up for grabs managers (as in real life), can apply for the club, then the board choosing the best suited manager for that job.

Just an idea, but i do like the original aswell

not sure how this would work in gold setups as most of the good players have been bought already. maybe if players transfer bans went after end of season might help. that way if you get a club with 5 games left you have a chance to wheel and deal in transfer market . As the last manager might have bought loads of players in to team then leaves for a better club, you then take over but cant really do much with team as all players cant be sold.
