Work In Progress: Derby Matches & Rivals

A few weeks ago we posted on the SM Blog about the idea of adding Derby Matches & Rivals to each club where applicable. The researchers at SM have now allocated (where applicable) derby matches and rivals to each club within the database (DB).

Even though this is now complete it is not yet ready to be introduced to the main site for a number of reasons. The current ‘match engine’ is being looked into and we are researching new ideas to make it better, and the idea of derby matches and matches against rivals will be part of this. This is also the case in relation to Phase 2 of the Setup Newspaper, which is still work in progress. We also want the results of derby matches and matches against rivals to have an impact on moral, and moral will play more of a key role when we revamp it in the near future.

When the other features are improved or introduced to the site, derby matches and rivals will come into play, and add an extra element to certain matches.

This is is a good idea, will this mean that on a derby match i.e port vale and stoke (potteries derby) u will introduce the right attendance as normally it is a full house, well a few season ago they did, also in the newspaper u could introduce an interview between the two rival clubs or derby clubs for reactions from both managers.

that should be great rival matches lets say if you have a bayern munchen with your one players and the other SM with his own players in weder bremen, that means that they morale will go up when they challenge each other?

gr8 idea of course lincoln city wud win against scunthorpe utd grimsby town and notts county!!! the best rival game in britain is celtic vs rangers (the old firm) but manu vs chelsea is class…. but this cud also b a bit unfair for a few teams coz they might not have any rivals but manchester utd have loads arsenal liverpool chelsea man city blackburn!! so my response is mixed

I think the best and biggest Dreby on the world is Galasatasar vs Fenerbahce. It is a fantastic derby..The Sound, The Hooligans and and and you must see it! it is very good!
