UEFA Champions League 2007/08: Veni Vidi Vici
April 2nd, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
The famous Latin sentance “Veni Vidi Vici” was spoken by Julius Caesar in 47 BC, and it translates as “I came, I saw, I conquered”. This is exactly what Manchester United did at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome last night.
Last night Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney scored a goal-a-piece to put Manchester United on the verge of the semi-finals. Roma started the better of the two, and with Manchester United’s first meaningful attack, Scholes crossed from the right-hand side, and Ronaldo covered approximately 35 yard to head home. After the break a horrendous attempt by Doni to catch Park’s header went badly wrong. This allowed Rooney to poke the ball home on 67 minutes, and in doing so giving Manchester United the killer second away goal:

Bojan Krkic became the first player born in the 1990s to score in the UEFA Champions League last night, and the 17-year-olds season seems to be going from strength-to-strength as each week passes. The wonderkid scored from close range after Henry’s initial shot was returned to him from Neuer, and he passed the ball across the face of the net to Bojan who finished:
