Toni and Gomez were both absolute pants.
You’d have thought that after the fantastic season each player had that they would have scored at least once but no, they were terrible.

Do Real Madrid still want Gomez now?! I still think he will bang them in again next season for his club but he didn’t live up to the hype.

Benzema was rubbish too, but I feel it’s more because the overall quality of the German and French midfield just wasn’t good enough to service Gomez and Benzema. Italy had midfield creativity in abundance, Toni was just wasteful. Couldn’t hit a cow’s ar** with a banjo.

Luca Toni and Gomez have been on fire all season, i cant believe both of them failed to score this tournament.
I think the way italy played really suited Toni, getting Grosso and Zambrotta to cross to his head, while he had at least 3/4 inches on most defenders, his performance was the main reason they went out.

Okay, Germany still got to the final, mostly without him.
I thought KLOSE and Gomez would have give them a dangerous partnership, but in the end, Ballack was the squad..

Oh my god!!!!
Luca Toni and Mario Gomez on fire in the german bundesliga and complete and utter garbage. This tells you a little something of the quality of the German league.

On a brighter note i think Sneijder, Villa, Pavlyuchenko and Arsahvin had a fantastic tounament.

Why isn’t Ronaldo a voting option because he was rubbish?!!!
For the so called best player in the world he did hardly anything and when his team needed him most he went missing AGAIN.

When he comes up against half decent opposition he just doesn’t perform. Wow, yeah he’s the best player in the world banging in goals again the mighty defences of Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland…

Try Kaka, or Messi, and Torres….those players are truly world class.

Look no further than the back 4 for Germany. They performed like the Marx Brothers in defence. Absolutely comical defending. For men so tall they couldn’t head the ball to save their lives. I wonder what the great German defenders of previous squads will think of them?!

I think we all expected big of Benzema but he did not turn up unfortuantely. Nevertheless he is still 20 years of age and has a big future ahead of him. I don’t quite understand some of the criticism aimed at toni though. Yes he missed some chances but the way Italy played was so negative and all they wnated to do was knock it up to Toni each time. I think he needs to play with a partner because he likes link up play and even though he is tall he is very good with his feet. Gomez was shcoking and i don’t know how he quite scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga!
But Senna would get my vote as player of the tournament =]

I think that all of the above have been big flops during Euro 2008 and out of that list i would probably choose the German attacking two, Gomez and Klose. It is surprising they even got to the final without either of the two clocking up a goal!!

But for me the big flop was C.Ronaldo. He did little in every game he played, poor tournament for such a big player and the question still remains ‘Can he perform on the big stage?’ this tournament has given him a no. I believed he was going to be the influence in Portugal’s game but he wasn’t and it is no surprise they did poorly considering how rubbish he played.

Bundesliga is awesome because they don’t have money (obvious exception is Bayern). So how can you even begin to compare the Bundesliga with the top 3 leagues. They all have cash, but teams who don’t like Schalke still made it to the Champions League quarter finals.

And if you say this shows the quality of Bundesliga is horrible, you have no idea what you are saying. Players like Gomez just aren’t good enough for international level. They can’t handle the pressure and are horrible for their national team.

And Toni, well he had no help what so ever. I’d like to see him bag those goals in with Bayern without the likes of Klose, Ribery, Schweini etc. creating the goals for him. So when he doesn’t get that kind of support with Italy I don’t blame him for not scoring.

Went for benzema, Never Liked Toni so wasent exspecting much from him, but benzema dissapoionted most, a few of the others never really got a chance to “flop” like gomez benzema had the chance to start games and he floped at it,

Petr cech disapointed me aswell i saw noting from him at all this tournement that would warrent a 95 rating, from him from all the highlights i saw, & he made 1 big mistake that cost his team, he needs to take of that stupit looking bandana he wears IMO..

Abidal again wasent exspecting much from his defensivly or attacking goin into this tournement & evra suits the french more, abidal is perfect for a team like barce so id exspect him to be at his best again next season at camp nou..

& Agree that The German Defensive Ws Poor With Exeption to Lahm who was great i thaught

Metzlder, Mertesacker and Lahm. The two centre half were awful. Lahm was brilliant in attacks but useless in defence. Who ever came up with the idea that Lahm is a full back is mad. the guy is a winger - a pretty good one.

Cristiano Ronaldo was utterly useless and on the evidence of Euro 2008, Messi and Kaka are on a different planet. Gomez was also a major dissapointment as was Benzema and in some respects Torres was also dissapointment despite scoring the winner in the final.

Lehmann, Metzelder, Mertesacker, Janssen, Gomez and Klose we’re terrible for the Germans. How the hell did they progress so far!!?

France we’re abysmal; Malouda, Abidal, Thuram and Anelka, to name a few, we’re appalling.

As for the Italians… Luca Toni… I say no more.

Cech just made one error.. although it was a HUGE error!

I thought Torres did pretty good considering he kept getting subed… was glad Spain won coz they played some great football but didn’t tink they would win at the start of the competition coz that manager made some crazy decisions!

I thought Benzema never got a chance to shine and France played terrible any way.

Toni was awful, he couldn’t score to save his life. he missed countless chances!

I know he got injured in the last group match but Franck Ribery was pretty poor, but most of the french team was

maciej zurwaski was also terible for poland

and i defo agree with gomez and toni, they missed a hatful of chances, especially toni in the last group match against france. but gomez’s miss against austria was the miss of the tournament and was lucky ballack could spare his blushes

ok the worst were gomez and toni
klose was ok and lahm as well except for the last final match
lehmann is ok as he hardly played a match the whole year

mertesacker was bad in the air
metzelder was pretty okay

i cnt beleive no one mentioned hitzelsberger he was awful
also toni and matterazi for italy and zambrotta made key errors some times

gallas and turam were the worst
the whole france squad was like the brazil in the world cup all experienced players but aging as well

benzema was ok as he is young and he hardly played over 200 mins

the worst was c ronaldo as i think when his team needed someone he was missing
as 42 goals in one seaosn and his team just needed 4 man i cnt beleive he cudnt score more than
and he played the same role he plays for united almost a second striker or a left winger

cech’s dreadful time is continuing so it was pretty much expected to maek blunders

Rob above said dat Deco had a bad tournament. Deco was unreal in every game, controlled the midfield well. Ronaldo has such high expections and because he didnt score more than 1 goal it is seen as a failure. Modric was poor i thought. Penalty was his 1 big moment. But my main flop was the donkey gomez. how bad is he lol And toni wasnt too far behind him tho. Man of the tounament is Senna or Deco for me!

the spanish defence ar very lucky they hav a world class keeper in casilias bcos ramos is decent going foward but is an unbelievablaly bad defender-no wonder real madrid ar a joke against good attacking teams in europe.puyol is about 5ft 3 nd is slow nd a stupid footballer but wat helps him is he a whole hearted player.marchena is a good footballer but no good defensively nd capdevilla is da same as ramos.they ar my flops aswell as ronaldo nd toni.gomez was never nygud he jus plays 4 a waste of a team in a joke of a league

Henry underperformed (again), Ronaldo should be sold cos he iusn’t worth his price tag, Cech cost his team the tournoment, Benzema tried hard and was the best of the French but still sucked, Spain are lucky to have Casillas cos other wise they would have been out at the Quaters.
Torres played well late, Villa was injured and still shone, Modric is shgowing why he is worth so much, Podolski is outstanding and shows it reguarly, pavlycheko had a good tourment, Ballack deserved a medal for his efforts

I can’t believe Eric Abidal started ahead of Patrice Evra. Evra was possibly the best left back in the Europe going on how well he played this season for Man Utd.

I think Claude Makelele was brutal. He doesn’t have the fitness to be a defensive midfielder.

I think Raymond Domenech (French Coach) was tactically a mess. He started two defensive midfielders which left a huge hole in his midfield and meant they couldn’t play straight down the middle and had to rely on overrated wingers like Malouda.

Domenech was lucky to get France to the final of the world cup 2006. That was down to the determination of Zidane.

Considering the potential of the Portugal team as a whole, i feel that although they played reasonanly well to start with, they underachieved majorly. The biggest letdown of the tournament for me was: Cristiano Ronaldo.

luca toni, is a piece of garbage, diving, lying, cheating, for his size couldnt find the net once, overrated, cant conrol the ball for more then 2 seconds, have you seen his ball control? cant control shyte, got robbed of the ball by players smaller then him, oh and materazzi was atrocious also, no wonder he only played one game.
