Talent Scout: Nikola Gulan

August 3rd, 2007 by SM Dev (ste)

The Balkans have given us great players in recent year like Zvonimir Boban, Davor Šuker, Dejan Savićević, Siniša Mihajlović, and many others. It seems like the region is keeping up with the tradition, and Nikola Gulan could soon be added to that list.

Gulan has recently swapped Belgrade for Tuscany, as Fiorentina have snapped up the talented midfielder for a nominal fee. The Tuscan club signed the Partizan Belgrade midfielder for a rummoured £1.7 million, but he will only arrive next year due to his non-EU status.

Fiorentina’s Director of Sports, Pantaleo Corvino, even travelled to Belgrade himself to watch the midfielder in person, and it is reported that Corvino was so impressed he struck an immediate deal with the Serbian giants.

Gulan has recently starred for the Serbian U-19 national side in the UEFA U-19 Championships, and looks to carry on his impressive form whilst on loan at his home town club. Gulan should get plenty of playing time this season for Partizan, and their performance in this seasons UEFA Cup will be an invaluable experience for him.

The left sided midfielder is currently a 78 rating (and has only just risen from a 72 rating), and if he manages to fulfil his potential, he will only carry on getting rating increases (especially as Serie A beckons).
