Talent Scout: Luca Antonelli
February 6th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
The Italian peninsula is renowned for producing some of the best defenders in the world, and you only have to look at names like Giacinto Facchetti, Claudio Gentile, Franco Baresi, Ciro Ferrara, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, and Fabio Cannavaro to see this.
A young Italian hailing from from the city of Monza, in Lombardy, has been tipped for future greatness, and his name is Luca Antonelli.
Antonelli was born in Monza, in 1987, and his talent was spotted early by scouts from his local club AC Monza. The right-back joined his local clubs youth setup, and the Biancorossi had a potential star on their books.
It wasn’t long before one of the giants of Italian football came in for the right-back, and in 2004 AC Milan took Antonelli back to Milan to join their youth setup.
Anonelli made his debut for the Rossoneri two years later on November 8th, 2006, when he came on at half-time in a Coppa Italia game. A few weeks later on 28th November, he made another first-team appearance, in the second-leg against Brescia.
He did not have to wait much longer for his Serie A debut, as he came on in the second half of a 3-0 win against Udinese, on 23rd December, 2006.
Last summer the Rossoneri loaned out their talented right-back to AS Bari to gain valuable experience. Even though AS Bari have been struggling in Serie B, Antonelli has impressed in what has been a dour season for the Galletti.
The Rossoneri recalled Antonelli in January due to his performances, and have now loaned him out to Serie A side Parma for the rest of the season.
The promising defender is currently an 80 rated RB, and if he settles into the Gialloblu side then he could easily hit a 85+ rating within 12 months.
