Talent Scout: Fernando Forestieri

April 23rd, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)

Italo-Argentinian footballer Fernando Martín Forestieri only turned 18 at the turn of the year, and he is a name on many peoples lips in the Italian Peninsula.

Forestieri was born (of Italian parents) in Rosario, Argentina, and he is already the subject of speculation over which country he is going to represent. So why all is there so much speculation over which nation he will represent? Well he is small, aggressive, and brilliant on the ball, and this has likened him to Lionel Messi (and surprise surpise he has been  called ‘The Heir to Messi’ due to the similarities).

Argentine giants Boca Juniors signed him from Newell’s Old Boys when he was only 13 (as they clearly saw the early potential), and he spent two years in their youth teams before his parents moved back home to Italy. Forestieri joined Serie B side Genoa on a five-year contract, and made his Serie B debut when he was only 16 (now can you see the hype building)!

Genoa gained promotion to Serie A at the end of last season, and for some unknown (and bizarre reason) sold his rights to Siena. This season he scored his first goal a few days shy of his 18th birthday against Inter, and made his full debut the following week against Palermo. Forestieri  is slowly breaking into the Siena first team, and is developing a reputation as a very promising up-and-coming youngster in Italy.

With the Italian ratings nearly upon us, it is expected that Forestieri  will rise from his current 77 rating, and within 18 months you could have a potential superstar on your hands if you managed to sign him now (before the hype gets even bigger).

Sebastian, GIOVINCO should have his rating as 88 or 89!
    He’s hot prospect.
    Balotelli should be 86!
MARCHISIO should be 88! Considering his flawless tackles.
It should tip him off for 88.
