Talent Scout: Davide Lanzafame
May 7th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
Italy currently have a seemingly never-ending list of explosive talents coming through at present, with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Sebastian Giovinco and Fernando Forestieri just a few of those tipped for great things.
Another player who is starting to catch the eye is Juventus-owned forward Davide Lanzafame, and now is the time to take notice before he really does explode on to the scene.
Over the past few years money has been tight in Italy, and due to this clubs from the peninsula are turning more and more to their youth academies. Juventus are starting to reap the benefits from this, and alaready they have starlets such as Paolo De Ceglie, Sebastian Giovinco, Domenico Criscito on their books, and Davide Lanzafame is another name to add to that list.
The 21-year-old forward is currently on-loan at Serie B side Bari, is regarded as one of the peninsula’s best young talents, and has a host of top European clubs supposedly interested in him. However, Juventus are fully aware of his talent, and are looking to loan him out next season again with Genoa , Siena and Napoli said to be interested.
Bari coach Antonio Conte is already singing his praises, and said: “He is explosive, he sniffs the goal, and imposes his speed outside the area. If he improves and learns he can become like Cristiano Ronaldo.”
What is surprising is that Bari have the option to sign the incredibly talented forwardfor a miserly €300,000 at the end of the season (that is is Juventus do decide to sell which is unlikely as they are looking to loan him out as mentioned above to gain expereince within Serie A).
The forward has ten goals to his name this season (none are from the penalty spot), and that is not a bad return for his debut season:
Lanzafame is currently an 80 rated forward, and with the Italian clubs being reviewed this week he should see a slight increase in rating. However, if you are patient then you will see a future gem on your hands as he will be plying his trade in Serie A next season.

how do people rate him? I see he only has 10 goals in 33 matches for a Serie B team as a striker… unless they use him as a winger.

He is a very strong player, this year he will play for Palermo but Juventus owns half of him. He isn’t a Striker but he is a winger
