Talent Scout: A trio of talent

April 16th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)

I have a trio of talent for you to look into and they consist of a Burkinabe, Italian, and a Chilean. Some of the players may be known already, but if you have not heard of them before then now is a good time to scout them!

The first player in the list is a Burkinabe called Jonathan Pitroipa, and in January 2008, Bundesliga side Hamburger signed the Burkina Faso star for next season. The official cost of the transfer has not been disclosed at this stage, however sports director Dietmar Beiersdorfer said: “We’ve observed Jonathan closely and are certain that he’ll make our team.”  Pitroipa has been in impressive form  for Freiburg this season, and has been earning some ‘rave’ reviews for his performances in the the 2nd Bundesliga. So you can say his imminent transfer to the Northern giants is no surprise to many observers.

The midfielder started at the football academy Planete Champion International in Ougadougou, and made the transition to their first team before SC Freiburg came knocking and took the teenager on trial. The trial was a success and the creative midfielder signed a professional contract. The attacking midfielder soon broke into the SC Freiburg first team, and has now become a key figure within the squad. A string of fine performances this season saw the Burkinabe linked with a host of Bundesglia clubs, however as mentioned earlier it was HSV who managed to secure his signature for the start of the 2008/09 season.

The next player on the list is an Italian striker/midfielder called Francesco Lodi, and he has recently been linked with a summer move to Serie A side Napoli (which is no surprise seing they are his home town club). The striker/midfielder is currently on loan to Serie B side Frosinone from Empoli, and he has been in fine form the Canarini hitting the back of the net 16-times.

The marksman is set to return to Empoli in the summer, however they will have a fight on their hands to keep hold of their talented player, as Lodi’s hometown club Napoli are known admirers, and hope to bring him to the San Paolo. Even if Napoli miss out on their man, there are other Serie A clubs lining up for his services in Genoa and Sampdoria, and wherever he ends up next season he will surely make an impression.

The final player on the list is a Chilean call Boris Sagredo, and he is one of a number of players classed as the new generation emerging from the small South American country. The attacking midfielder may only be 19 years old, however he is already playing for one of Chile’s main clubs in Colo Colo, and has already made numerous national team squads under Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.

The midfielder made his debut for Colo Colo when he was only seventeen, and has since kept his place in the squad despite his tender year. On his debut when he came on in the 76th minute he created assist for the only goal of the match, and in his second match he scored his first goal for Colo-Colo.

Sagredo is one of a number of new generation talents emerging from Chile along with Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez to name but a few, and if he lives up to the early hype he could easily secure a move to Europe within 18 months.

How about talent from Suriname ? That country has a lot of talent. Clarence Seedorf, Bogarde, Jimmy Hasselbaink, Edgar Davids and Royston Drenthe are all from Suriname. But there are still enough talented players in Suriname, not in Holland. Recently Emilio Limon made a good impression in Engeland at a stage in Sunderland. You should’nt overlook that country. Thanx
