New Improvements/Features: Private Invitation

August 12th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)

There has been a small change to Custom Setups and this is in relation to ‘Password Application‘.

There are still four options in relation to your Custom Setup and they are:

Image:Door_open.gif Public Open - The setup is completely open to anyone who meets your ‘Manager Reputation’ setting level. They can join your setup if clubs are available.

Image:Table_go.gif Private Application - Managers will have to apply to join your setup and will have to be accepted by you to take over a club.

Image:Key.gif Private Invitaion - The setup owner invites managers to take control of clubs.

Image:Lock.gif Private Locked - Nobody can join the league.

You will notice that ‘Password Application‘ is no longer available, and that is has been replaced with ‘Private Invitation‘. The reason for this change is that when a manager choose ‘Password Application‘ they did so to give out a password of their choice so that other managers could join their Custom Setup using the password in question.

However, this option would create more problems then it would solve, and I will explain the main reasons in relation to this:

  • First, a minority of managers who were given the password via the setup owner would then give their friends/colleagues/family members the password (without the owners permission), and the the Custom Setup would have unwanted managers within it;
  • Second, a manager would be given the password and informed that they could manage for example Everton, and then once they accessed the setup would take control of another club like Real Madrid;
  • Lastly, as mentioned above clubs within a Custom Setup were taken without the owners consent, and this would mean that the owners friends/colleagues/family members would miss out on a club they were promised.

However, now that ‘Password Application‘ is no longer available (due to it being replaced with ‘Private Invitation‘) it should prevent the above from happening.

Image:Question.gif So what does this change mean?

Image:Answer.gif  Well if you select ‘Private Application‘ then it will be up to you to offer jobs to people, and we recommend this when you are creating your Custom Setup.

Image:Question.gif How do I offer jobs to people?

Image:Answer.gif  You will need to access ‘View/Admin Managers & Transfers’ and you can access this from My Extras > My Setups. Once you have accessed this page you will be able to offer the vacant manager position to anyone on your ‘Friends‘ list, and this is done by selecting the relevant friend within the drop down box and then clicking on ‘Offer‘.

Please Note: The drop down box will display the managers named followed by number of clubs managed and number of club slots (e.g. Joe Bloggs 8/14).

Image:Question.gif What happens once I have offered the job?

Image:Answer.gif  A message will appear stating ‘You have offered (managers name) the (clubs name) manager job. You must now wait for the manager to respond. An email has been sent to them to inform to inform them of your offer.‘ So you will just have to sit back and wait for your friend to accept your offer, and if at any point you decide to withdraw the offer you can click on ‘Job Offered - Withdraw Offer?’ to make the position vacant again.

Image:Question.gif How does the person I offered the job to accept the position?

Image:Answer.gif  Well that person will be sent an email notifying them of your offer. When they access their homepage the club will already be allocated to their account, and they will then have the chance to either ‘Accept/Reject‘ your offer (similar to the ‘Job Offers‘ feature).

We hope that this is a welcome change for Custom Setup owners, and the relevant section within our Online Help has also been updated.
