New Improvements/Features: Advanced Custom Setup Rules
April 2nd, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
Soccer Manager took note that some managers within our community have their own rules/gentlemen ageements within their own Custom Setups, and due to this ‘Advanced Custom Setup Rules’ have now been introduced.
Previously the only options you had once you had created your Custom Setup was in relation to entry requirements. This means that you could set a ‘Manager Reputation Entry Level’, and ‘Access’ - in Public/Private.
However some managers put a small description in their ‘Custom Setup Description’ which included rules/gentlemen ageements within their Custom Setups. Some of these rules included no buying from unmanaged or external clubs, no buying players over the age of x, no buying players over the age of y etc.
However no matter who was involved in your Custom Setup, whether it was friends, relatives, work colleagues, strangers or similar, it was hard to police the rules/gentlemen ageements within your Custom Setup. Solution? The introduction of ‘Advanced Rules’ for Custom Setups which managers can pre-select at the start of each season, and these rules will be enforced by SM and can not be broken due to the AI.
‘Advanced Rules’ for Custom Setups inlcude the following selections:
- No buying from unmanaged clubs;
- No buying from external clubs;
- No buying over the age of x;
- No buying players rated over x;
- Can not do transfers over £x;
- Transfer window ONE between Turn X and Turn Y;
- Transfer window TWO between Turn X and Turn Y;
- Can only buy players from the same nationality as your club;
- Manager sacked if they finish in bottom 1/2/3;
- Manager must login to this setup at least ever x days.
Any of the ‘Advanced Rules’ which you select will be clearly visible to all managers within your Custom Setup, and they will also be enfored by the AI. Therefore no manager can complain if he/she is removed from the setup (for exmaple) by the AI for finishing bottom of the league or for not logging in at least once every 2 days.
The new ‘Advanced Rules’ are now in place, and we hope that this will prove to be a welcome addition to all Gold Members who own their own Custom Setups. Full details of the ‘Advanced Rules’ can be found within the SM Help, and we suggest that all Custom Setup owners read these prior to introducing any ‘advanced rules’.
Please Note: Custom Setup owners who currently own a setup which has already started a new season will have the option to introduce any of the ‘Advanced Custom Setup Rules’. However you will only be able to introduce them once, and you will not be able to change them again until the following season.
