Ideas & Suggested Improvements: Super Cup & Gold Super Cup
December 11th, 2007 by SM Dev (ste)
The majority of domestic leagues around the world usually contest some form of Super Cup at the start of each season, which usually sees the previous seasons League and Cup winners pitted against each other. The one off match can either be played over 90 minutes (followed by a penalty shoot-out if a draw at the end of normal time), or over two legs played home and away (with away goals taken into consideration).
UEFA also follow a similar concept, with the European Super Cup (UEFA Super Cup), which sees the reigning champions of the UEFA Cup, and the Champions League face off at the start of the domestic season.
On the main site under SM Improvements we have listed Super Cup & Gold Super Cup as a future improvement. We are intending to emulate the real life clashes between the previous seasons domestic League and Cup winners , and also the previous seaosns SMFA Cup winners and SMFA Shield winners, by hosting the Super Cup and Gold Super Cup respectively in each setup within SM (with the Gold Super Cup being exclusive to Gold Setups only).
This will only be a minor improvement to the game, but it will add another touch of realism to SM as we strive to make it the number one game on the Internet.

because that would require a cup between setups. for instance, our cups in the setups are like for one country or region and so havin a club world championship would require other regions because the world club championship connsists of teams from all continents and so you would need the equivalent to the top cup or league winners from 5 different setups to play in an inter setup cup. basically its possible but perhaps too much hassle

It is a good idea. But why now create a pyramid cup for the top 8 of each divisions so that there will be different standards for each challengers instead of the best teams challenging each other.

Great idea, but how would this super cup get over the posibility of there being an odd number of teams or match-ups? e.g. League winner, Cup winner and shield winner.

if the team that wins division 1 wins the cup as well then they would face the 2nd place team in division 1

Its a good idea but what if a team won the SMFA Cup and SMFA Shield? What would happen then? e.g If Manchester United SMFA Shield and Cup winners.
