Ideas & Suggested Improvements: Improved Player Loans
August 5th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
We have looked at the current loan system within the game, and have decided to make some alterations to it at a future date.
At this moment in time the options in relation to a player going out on loan is limited. You can either make your player available or place him on the loan list, and then wait for an offer to come in. Once you have received an offer to loan the player in question you can either accept or reject the approach, and as soon as you have accepted their offer your player will leave your club to go out on loan.
However, as we know in real-life loans can be more complex, and they are not always straight forward. Sometimes a club might put certain clauses within the loan contract like the player cannot play against his parent club or cannot play in cup games (to prevent him becoming cup tied). This is something which we could look into and possibly add to the existing format, and this would help make loans more life-like (as for starters it could prevent your players becoming cup tied).
Also in real-life loans are for a set period of time, and this is in contract to what we actually adopt within the game at this moment in time. For example you could send a player out on loan, and then the next day recall him to your squad for one reason or another. However, if we made loans more life-like we could put something in place which could allow a manager to select how many turns he would like the player to go out on loan. To add to this something could also be put in place so that when a player was recalled from a loan spell he wold not return straight away, and would return to his parent club within 24 hours.
These simple improvements to the current loan system should make the game more realistic, and we will work on these improvements at a future date.

Fantastic idea!
The bit about being able to prevent a loaned player playing in the cup is great too. Means you can loan out a few high rated players that you aren’t using and then recall them if you get injury or whatever and still be able to use them in the cups.

GREAT ideas….loans are a bit to simple and its really irritating when a player you loan gets re-called in the next few days….we should also have an option to buy a player we have on loan when the loan period runs out, depending on his performances

Not sure whether I like this or not. It’s more realistic… yes. But, adding this would make more complications for the club loaning out, and make them less likely to loan out the player.
For example if I mange a Real Madrid and I have been knocked out of all competitions, I may loan out Benjani who is my 4th choice forward. But then say my best forward Raul and my third best forward Podolski got injured I would have to play my 5th choice striker (who may be rated 75), because I am not allowed to recall Benjani. This would put me off loaning any 87+ player in any GC for good.
However I do think a few more loan options could be bought in like:
- Can’t Play against mother club
- Fee for loan? (Happens in real life at times - Obviously for this type of loan the player could not be re-called)
- Loan for different time period (X turns)

Sound like a good idea, but I dont like the idea of it taking 24 hours to get a playr back as this may stop people risking loaning people out, and the idea people have the option to buy the player at the end of the loan is ridiculous.
5. adzs | August 5th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
yh but Micheal it happens in real life doesn’t it??? a few years back when real Madrid and arsenal swapped players on loan (Reyes and baptista to be exact), with the option to buy them at the end of the season, i didnt see them calling the deal ridiculous..in fact real bought Reyes didnt they???

Brilliant idea, i cant wait for it to be implemented because i always have different managers bugging me about whether they can play my players in cup matches or against the parent club.
7. bojan | August 5th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Actually Real Madrid didn’t buy Reyes. They opted not to buy him and he went to Atletico Madrid instead.

this is what i have been asking for / for weeks now
i have stopped loaning guys to teams in the same division as myself because they use them against you, also i tell guys not to use players in cup games. all we need now is to stop them sending back the injured players
9. alex bardsley | August 5th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
buying a player at the end of a loan is not ridiculous. all it needs is a message saying “the loan period of this player is over would you liike to make a transfer offer” and you say yes or no
10. adzs | August 5th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
or you have a clause in a contract….and i agree wit tony im so sick of idiots sending me back my loaned players injured!!!
11. Chris | August 5th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
These ideas sound good, but one thing that bugs me is when i loan a player out and they don’t play at all. I think a another clause should state how many appearances they make, possibly.
12. Luke Sefton (forum) | August 5th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
I like this idea, would make the game much better.
And Ben, you can still recall players, there is just a 24 hour delay. So as long as you recall him right after your (psychological) match, he will return in time for your next match.
13. Wunna | August 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Chris, I agree that there should be a clause to state how many appearances loaned players must make but we can’t force anyone. What I do is if they don’t play at all after 7 or 8 games, I just recalled them.
must agree with tony that i am sick of getting back loaned players when they are injured. That’s ridiculous. And even worse, that manager makes loan offer for another player? In that case, what I always do it recall all loaned players and don’t make any loan deal with that manager anymore
Also, on a different note, there should be a period in loan clause (e.g. 10 turns) and the parent club should not be able to recall within that period and the loaned club should not be able to send that player back too.
Also at the end of the loan period, the loaned club should have the option to ask for extension of loan and the parent club should have the option to accept or reject it. It will make loans more efficient rather than having to make or accept/reject the loan offers at the end of each season. any thoughts?

Id like to be able to put a player on the transfer list as well as be out on loan.
At the moment once a player is off my wage bill and is loaned to another team.
If i want to sell him permanently i have to recall him back, and then pay his wages till a suitable offer come in where i can sell him.
Id like to see this changed if poss.

great idea.
16. Mark | August 6th, 2008 at 10:22 am
I like the idea to be able to prevent players becoming cup tied and possibly small fees be negotiated between clubs. I think if there is a fee paid then the player must stay until negotiated time is up otherwise if no fee then the player should be able to return whenever.
At the moment i dont like that mangers can ask to loan someone who’s not even on the loan list i find answering these bids annoying however if they were willing to pay for my players services it would make loaning players more enjoyable for the manager loaning out. At the moment they get nothing in return besides saving minimal wages

I agree to the 24 hour clause, but Im not too sure abt the set no. of turns bit. This is what is was like and would seem like a huge step back in my eyes. Plus, I prefer it how it is currently, where you can loan at anytime, up until the end of the season.
18. Rich | August 6th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Great idea. What I’d suggest regarding the length of time is making it such as a 1 month loan, 3 month loan and season loan. Along those lines, obviously you could change the ” month ” part to ” turns “.
I think make the loan system a fair as, there will be times when a manager has a player or star player injured and needs cover just for one or two games rather than a larger amount of time so say they could loan in a player of the same position but only keep him for say the one month.
What I don’t get are the managers who loan players from you then don’t play them. I can’t think of reason that makes sense as to why a person would do that :/
On the 24 hour clause thing, I’m not too sure about that. There will undoubtedly come times when you are watching a players fitness and it comes down the that last 24 hour period, you won’t know until match day if he is going to be fit or not but by then it’s too late to recall that player out on loan.
A definite is the options. The addition of tick boxes in a loan deal with things like ” cannot play against own team ” or individual cup and league options also and of course lets not forget the big issue of WAGES. Has anyone thought of that ? Either by default the club taking the player should then take on his wages or that too should be an option, you can choose to ask them to pay all or a percentage of his wages.
Like #16 Mark says, Sm should add the option of asking the club to pay in advance to loan him from you, especially someone who is not on the loan list.
Add to this the no-so-often occurrence of two year loan deals, what do people think of this ? Should SM add that ?

I Think It’s a great idea
SPECIALLY that u can make the loan for a set o f turns
prevent him from playing (cup against mother team )
& OFF COURSE having some money for a loan would be a very good idea ………….
sometimes you could haVe so many loan bids for one player (when u are playing with a top team U could send some 90 rated players for some money )
so u can make the loan offer with $0 to 20% of the players value
for a half season or 5 weeks (at least )
& 2 seasons (40 week ) at max
& when there is only one week left in the deal you can negotiate a new loan deal if u want to
& it should for sure have 24 hour delay in the deal to finish to prevent stealing the player just minutes before a game & get a random player as a starter

Great that the game is constantly improving, as for players goin out on loan i think the advantages to the lender club is fairly limited. maybe something could come in to make it more in a clubs interest to loan out a player as apposed to sticking him in the youth team for example!!!

I think it’s ok but manager’s are harsh sometimes on the player’s dough
22. jose | August 18th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
i think the idea is good, but also it would be great if you can specify in a clause if there is a buying option (or not) at the end of the loan
23. Aaron Gardner | September 18th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
i think this is a great idea but transfers and loans happen too quickly why don’t we have medicals or international clearance make it real
24. Josh | September 28th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
I think this is a great idea but i think there shouldnt be a limit on the amount of players you can loan in at anyone time.
25. Nelius | November 9th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
There should be a 24hr period when a loan is accepted or a player is recalled before changing clubs. I have had times when I set my tactics and just before kick off a loan player is recalled and then my back up keeper ends up playing as a striker. Or a person only accepts my loan bids just before kick off and then recalls them straight after the match and I end up paying the wages without using the players.

yh the idea is really gd but wouldnt u liek to be able to loan in a player that is quite gd from a team that say do’nt have loads of 94 plus like say if flamini was at sporting it wud let me loan him in rather then chairman saying i wont let u
