Ideas & Suggested Improvements: Deducting Points for Unfair Play
June 18th, 2008 by SM Dev (ste)
We receive a wide range of suggestions, and one we recently received is bound to create an interesting debate.
The idea centres around deducting points from a club for unfair play:
“I think it should be compulsory for a club to lose points if they play by the rules unfairly. Maybe it could be included in the soccer manager setups that if teams are cheating somehow then the team in that setup could be deducted points.”
This is an interesting suggestion, and one that would need to be looked at in great detail if we were to consider introducing it. With this suggestion if a manager was caught cheating then action would be taken against the club they were/area manging. However, this would have several consequences. If the club was docked points or even fined for example, then the manager could easily resign from the club in question, and whoever became the new manager would also have the punishment hanging over them.
Even though this is an interesting suggestion it is one I can not see implemented anytime soon.

if a manager gets caught playing unfairly they should lose their club, and so there would be no point punishing the team

But if someone cheats like buying a 80rating player for 30mil then u can add him 2 a ‘blacklist’. If u deduc points and manager then resigns then ban him from playing in tha setup again or for a certain period. And if wen he resigns then the deducted points would be added back again

Just make it so players can’t quit/withdraw a club in the middle of a season..

Dargine, there is a simple method that cheaters can use to escape that. They can simply create another account and leave that club to rot.

True.. but ain’t double accounts forbidden anyway? So shouldn’t those people just get banned from soccermanager.com?

if the cheater match fixing for 10 matches, that would be 30 points gained and seems very unfair to other managers
but of course the the cheater will be kick out from the club and ban from entering the same setup
this ‘ deducting points’ issue is not going anywhere

deducting points would sound interesting what about if a teams balance is below minus 10million they get deducted points.

Can’t believe SM even entertain the idea of docking points. As has been mentioned you can’t hold a manager in place, so docking points would just penalise the club and not the manager.

if you are caught breaking the rules you should be fired from your club and be banned from joining another club for a period of time if you keep doing it banned completly

i agree taking points off teams means that the managers will just quit the team
