The staff at SoccerPro.com headed by podcast host Curtis Stelzer discussed the “9 myths every Soccer Manager player believes - even the really good ones” recently on their excellent Goalmouth Scramble.

I listened to the podcast of “9 myths every Soccer Manager player believes - even the really good ones” on Monday, and I thought it was brilliant. It is recommend listening in my opinion, and if you have not delved into the world of podcasting yet then this is excellent introduction.

I won’t say if any of these myths are true or not (for obvious reasons), and instead I will let you listen to the SoccerPro.com staff discuss them and then let you come to your own conclusions.

A lot of what they said is true.

For what they said about Benzema and Messi not performing well is completely true. Maybe some people on here have Messi in their team and he scores a lot for them but for me and the majority of people I have encountered, Messi just doesn’t perform for them even though he is a 97…

Same with Benzema, I have 88 rated players (no joke) who outscore him time and time again. The only thing he and Messi seem to be good for is assists, and even then I have 90 rated players assisting more. SM, please you need to address this!

It is true about Messi and Benzema. Even though they are high rated they never seem to perform well and don’t score enough goals.

I have 88 rated players who constantly outscore and outperform both Messi and Benzema. It seems all they are good for at times is providing assists, and even then I have 89 rated players assisting more in fewer appearances!

Work that out!

Good to hear that the game is getting the recognition it deserves and especially from Americans

However you did say that GK’s can play outfield which is’nt exactly true. You can’t pick them to be outfield players the AI automatically does that when there is no other option.

I think you may have ment that though as you did say ” when nescessary” but all in all this was a excellent podcast and would like to hear more.

I loved that you slated some of the scouts on the forum lmao!!
Also anyone think when they were talking about squad sizes they must have been talking about Bestpay lol only joking mate :0)

I would like to see the official rules of each league irl added to gold setups including the smfa cup and shield however that would probably mean no new layouts but it would be nice if the tested it out on 1 GC.It would also bring down i would think anyway squad sizes to a extent.

Benzema was scoring every game when I had him at Porto g8 but ofcourse that was when he wasn’t injured. Although that was probably down to the opposition i was playing against more than anything as to be honest my whole team got on the scoresheet near enough every 2-3 games.

Benzema’s my top scorer and assister with 14goals and 7assists in 20 appearances. He’s a top performer for me. I also have Bojan who has 7goals & 6assists in 7 games and his rating is 89

Really loved the podcast,had to laugh when the guys mentioned that some people on the Forum just quote stats from other sites,very ,very true lol
Cant agree with the GK playing out and a F and CF cant play together but it was good PR for SM
Loved the cheating bit as well,i have been preaching zero tolerance from day 1 lol
Guess we can expect an deluge of questions in the HELP Section starting with HEY BUDDY lol

messi is gd for me sumtymz and sumtyz nt so gd i wud not sell him though iff any of use have got him i think ballack is gd on the game , farfan and garay
